Medicare Supplement Plan K

The Medicare Supplement Plan K covers the basic benefits that every Medigap plan covers listed below after a $4620 annual out of pocket maximum. It covers 50% the Part A deductible of $1100.  The skilled nursing facility co-pay of $137.50 per day is covered at 50%, as well as Hospice, the first 3 pints of blood, and the Part B co-insurance at 50% after deductible. No excess charges are covered with the Plan K, and excess charges are in addition to the out of pocket maximum.

With only having traditional Medicare Parts A and B, the copays for the basic benefits are as follows -

Part A hospital days 61-90 have a $275 copay per day.  For days 91-150, there is a $550 copay per day for the lifetime reserve days.  Beyond the 150 lifetime reserve days, for the next 365 days, the individual would pay 100% of all costs if they relied solely on Medicare.  There is also a Part A and B blood deductible for the first 3 pints of blood.

With a Medicare Supplement Plan K, the insurance company will pay for all of these out of pocket expenses after the $4620 annual out of pocket maximum.
